Job summary

Maple Reinders is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our Civil Estimating team, focusing on Water/Wastewater projects across Canada with opportunities in design/build and project management.

The successful candidate will prepare tenders from concept to submission, review drawings, and manage risk while coordinating with subcontractors. A strong background in Water/Wastewater and advanced Excel is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience estimating Water/Wastewater projects or working in a combined role of Project Manager & Estimator in Water/Wastewater.
• Background as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or trades person with experience in Water/Wastewater construction.
• Mechanical experience in the food & beverage or chemical industry is also an asset.
• Process Mechanical experience preferred.
• Civil (excavation and site piping) experience would be an asset.
• University Degree/Technology Diploma in Engineering, Red Seal Certification (mechanical related) or a combination of education and industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and tenders using Maple accepted practices and systems.
• Review drawings and specifications to understand project needs and risk.
• Select and contact subcontractors and suppliers for quotations.
• Prepare and review suppliers and subcontractors’ scope of work.
• Prepare quality take-offs for self-performed tasks.
• Close tenders in consultation with senior managers.
• Review preliminary work schedules using MS Project and assess site conditions and labour availability.
• Engage with Engineers, Architects, Owners, Contractors and Subcontractors to provide value engineering.
• Mentor junior staff and support bid opportunities with Major Projects.
