We are seeking a Senior Civil Estimator who is aspiring to reach their potential in the field of construction. You will be responsible for civil infrastructure projects, specializing in sewer and watermain construction, road reconstruction, site servicing, earthworks, residential subdivisions, paving, among others.

Environment

The Civil Estimator is responsible for preparing estimates for a variety of projects. The incumbent's time will be split between an office environment and necessary site visits. Overtime may be necessary to meet project deadlines.

How You Will Make An IMPACT

1. Preparation of estimates ranging from 0.5 Mil to 20 Mil for sewer and watermain projects, underground infrastructure renewal, residential subdivisions, road construction, paving, parking lots, building excavation and backfill, structural culverts and bridges, earthworks, landfill construction, creek remediations, shoreline protection, etc.
2. Review plans and specifications for completeness.
3. Analyze drawings and specifications to identify risks and develop solutions.
4. Escalate issues, questions, and concerns relating to tender challenges promptly.
5. Coordinate with the operations team for decisions regarding project sequencing, site constraints, crew sizes, productivity, and schedule.
6. Perform or delegate project takeoffs using software such as Bluebeam, Excel, Agtek, etc.
7. Develop detailed estimates using Heavy Bid, adjusting default bid items for accuracy, crew makeup, risks, and efficiencies.
8. Solicit prices from subcontractors and suppliers via Heavy Bid.
9. Review bonding and insurance requirements and secure pricing and commitments.
10. Prepare bid documents including proposal letters, schedules, and tender forms.
11. Develop conceptual site designs and submit proposals for Design-Build projects.
12. Maintain estimating tools and analyze data from past projects to improve future estimates.
13. Train and mentor junior estimators, and review their work.
14. Conduct site visits and attend pre-construction meetings to identify site constraints and challenges.
15. Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
16. Be responsible for tasks and timelines assigned.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.
