Job summary

EllisDon Corporation in Canada seeks a Senior Civil Estimator to lead bid development for major transportation infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges and rail integrations. You will review drawings, assemble comprehensive estimates (hard-bid, design-build, construction management), manage schedules, and coordinate with subs to finalize pricing.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Engineering or Construction.
• 5+ years estimating experience in civil construction.
• Experience leading bid teams and coordinating with subcontractors.
• Strong communication and written English.

Responsibilities

• Confidently lead a team through the completion of a bid process for larger and more complex projects.
• Review drawings and tender documents to understand scope of work and submission requirements.
• Assemble accurate, timely and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management and design-build.
• Prepare reports and lead executive bid review meetings.
• Review schedule for accuracy and determine production rates.
• Contact subcontractors and vendors to obtain external pricing.
• Negotiate subcontractors and vendor pricing.
• Organize sub-contractor quotes when bid is successful and assist with buy-out.
• Maintain databases of labour rates, material pricing and project costs.
• Mentor and develop junior staff within the estimating department.

(Scope definition, risk profiling, division of work among team members, facilitate and lead executive reviews meeting.)Review drawings and tender documents to understand scope of work and submission requirements.Assemble accurate, timely and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management and design-build .Prepare reports and lead executive bid review meetings.Review schedule for accuracy and determine production rates.Contact subcontractors and vendors for specific divisions to obtain external pricing.Negotiate subcontractors and vendor pricing.Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing informationAssemble accurate, timely and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management and design-buildOrganize sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting the buy-out processDistribute sub-trade quotes to personnel, flagging areas of concern and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid priceRecognize and evaluate risks within each specific project and produce and maintain a risk registry.Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing and project costs, for future reference .Support the project handover process to the Project Delivery / Operation teams.
