AECOM is seeking a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer specializing in hazardous materials and building abatement to join our Western Canada Environment team in Edmonton. The role offers hybrid work and a full-time, regular schedule.

The right candidate will lead technical projects, mentor staff, and liaise with clients on remediation and civil design tasks. We value a strong technical background, a can-do attitude, and a track record of delivering complex projects across Western Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Environmental engineering.
• 8+ years in hazardous materials and building abatement projects.
• Proficient technical writing for design reports and regulatory submissions.
• Registered PE with APEGA and/or NAPEG, valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel within Canada; proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop hazardous materials assessments and building abatement designs.
• Supervise drawing development and review hazardous materials designs.
• Prepare technical letters, reports, drawings and design packages.
• Prepare project specifications and construction cost estimates.
• Coordinate regulatory submittals and collaborate with staff and clients.

AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer who specializes in hazardous materials and building abatement to join our growing Western Canada Environment team. The right candidate can work locally from our Edmonton AB office and AECOM can provide hybrid work options to give the flexibility you need to do your best work. This is a regular, full-time position.

We have a significant backlog of major northern mine remediation, solid waste management, remediation and civil design projects in need of great team members. The role encompasses a blend of technical project oversight, client liaison and staff mentoring, adapted to fit your experience and career aspirations. Responsibilities

Below are example responsibilities you can expect when working within the AECOM team to deliver all phases of projects:

• Developing technical solutions to complete hazardous materials assessments, building abatement and deconstruction designs, drawing and NMS specifications development.
• Working with our local design team to develop designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Applicant should have experience with supervising and directing drawing development as well as reviewing and taking professional responsibility for hazardous materials designs.
• Preparing documentation for design projects: technical letters, memorandums, reports, drawings, and detailed design packages
• Preparation of project specifications, contract documents, construction packages, and construction cost estimates
• Preparation of regulatory submittal documents for development.
• Supervisory duties:
  • Collaborating with junior and intermediate staff on client, co-worker, sub-contractor and sub-consultant communication and management

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Geotechnical, Environmental etc.)
• 8+ years of related experience within hazardous materials and building abatement projects
• Proficient technical writing experience for detailed design reports and regulatory document submissions.
• Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA and/or NAPEG
• Valid driver's license
• Travel will likely be required in this position within Canada
• Proficient with MS Office Suite; excellent knowledge of Excel and Word

Preferred Qualifications

Below are examples of experience that would be an asset when working in this position:

• P.Eng. registered with multiple provincial or territorial jurisdictions.
• 15+ years of technical experience within any following fields:
  • Civil engineering design, preferably in earthworks and grading
