Job description

This is a critical role in our client’s continued success and growth. Reporting to the Engineering Services Department, you will review all land development projects, ensure compliance with standards, and manage a range of capital projects.

LOCATION : WHITEHORSE, YUKON, CANADA

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Review detailed design drawings, contract specifications, and reports submitted by private developers and/or consultants to ensure compliance with the Servicing Standards Manual and sound engineering principles.
  • Provide professional expertise related to infrastructure construction and interpret Engineering Servicing Standards for the public, private developers, contractors, and consultants.
  • Develop and revise the client’s Servicing Standards manuals, including researching new products and construction procedures.
  • Prepare and negotiate development agreements with private developers and ensure compliance.
  • Draft engineering, detailed design, and specialized drawings.
  • Prepare and evaluate tenders, quotations, proposal calls, and reports; recommend awards following the Purchasing Policy.
  • Collect and analyze technical data, undertake studies, and prepare reports for approval.
  • Manage or coordinate the design and construction of in-house capital infrastructure projects, whether completed by contractors or managed as consultant-controlled projects.
  • Assist in preparing the Engineering Services Departmental budgets, control project budgets, and calculate charges.
  • Adhere to established safety procedures and standards, and ensure contractors, consultants, and workers comply on work sites.
  • Supervise and train seasonal staff, contributing to recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Act as Manager of Engineering Services or Engineering Projects Officer as assigned.

The compensation range is approximately $80k-$100k, with good pension benefits. Relocation assistance may be provided for those outside Yukon.

Candidate Profile

We seek an accomplished civil engineering professional with a diploma, degree, or equivalent in civil engineering or professional certification in technology. The candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering projects as outlined in the job description.
