Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Calgary, Alberta, seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil design teams across power, transmission, pipeline, and industrial projects. You will guide design through the full lifecycle, coordinating with clients and other disciplines to deliver compliant, cost-effective solutions.

The role requires a strong background in civil engineering, project leadership, and knowledge of CSA/NBC codes, with ability to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an accredited program and 7 years civil engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
• Or Bachelor Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology with FE exam and 7 years civil engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
• Or Master Degree in Civil Engineering with 6 years civil engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
• Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Extensive experience with site development, grading, drainage, and stormwater management.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Prepare civil equipment specifications, RFQs, and data sheets.
• Review civil vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Participate in project scheduling, scope, budget, staffing and construction planning.
• Quality review production drawings for compliance with standards and constructability.
• Lead field inspections and coordinate with site personnel.
• Prepare and present technical reports for clients and publications.
• Develop cost proposals and manage project budgets and costs.
