Job Description

Your role within the team:

• Perform as a field engineer, supporting site construction activities, including interpreting engineering requirements, performing field changes, reviewing construction work packages (CWP), conducting field inspections, and accepting vendor design packages.
• Support the execution of approved engineering design packages and follow applicable change processes when designs are unsuitable for field conditions.
• Review engineering design packages to ensure alignment with construction scope, planning, and material requirements.
• Identify discrepancies and technical issues during construction, collaborating with the team for solutions.
• Coordinate with the engineering home office for major design changes.
• Conduct structural analysis and design calculations for steel and reinforced concrete structures.
• Propose technical recommendations to optimize construction and implementation.
• Prepare technical documents and engineering packages for field use.
• Collaborate with clients, construction teams, and vendors, attending site visits and meetings.
• Review and approve vendor shop drawings and ensure project delivery aligns with standards and regulations.
• Support project management with updates on engineering progress and staffing.
• Assist in preparing design drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
• Supervise junior staff and review their work for quality assurance.
• Prepare estimates and technical reports for construction activities.

The ideal candidate:

• Civil Engineering degree; Master's preferred.
• Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario.
• At least 10 years of structural analysis and design experience.
• Experience as a Resident Engineer at heavy industry or nuclear sites.
• Design experience in Nuclear Power Plants is preferred.
• Knowledge of structural codes, analysis software, and nuclear QA guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Security clearance eligibility and willingness to travel.
• Experience supporting various projects and leading teams is required.
