Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Civil Designer to join our growing Canadian Operations. To be successful, you must have a minimum of 8-10 years of civil design experience utilizing Civil3D in rail, stations, and transportation facilities projects including multi-modal corridors (LRT / BRT). The Senior Civil Designer will work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, regional team leads across Ontario, Canada, North America, and GHD’s global network.

We’re seeking individuals who are curious, innovative, and eager to shape communities positively. Working on complex projects globally, you will be at the forefront of driving change and sustainability.

Responsibilities include :

• Preparation of civil drawings and details from conception to final design in Civil 3D, including linear utility modelling, site grading, site servicing, road and rail corridor design, and transit stations.
• Driving design phases and implementing standards on high-complexity rail and transit projects.
• Reviewing and preparing models and drawings, collaborating with engineers to develop detailed drawings, quantities, and supporting documents.
• Working within procurement strategies such as Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build to advance civil design packages.
• Mentoring and supervising junior technicians.
• Following BIM standards and procedures throughout project lifecycle.
• Providing support and training on Civil 3D and BIM standards.
• Ensuring compliance with GHD BIM standards at the project level.
• Contributing to BIM scope, schedule, and budget planning.
• Quantity take-offs and producing high-quality civil deliverables.
• Communicating effectively with project teams to meet deadlines.
• Participating in the development of GHD’s Civil / Transportation Details and BIM Standards.

Qualifications :

• Civil Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent; experience in Civil Engineering is an asset.
• 8-10 years of civil design, drafting, and modelling experience, especially with site grading, drainage, and access road design using Civil 3D.
• Extensive experience with corridor and pipe network modules in Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; knowledge of Bentley Microstation, OpenRoads, Navisworks, Dynamo, REVIT is a plus.
• Experience with Metrolinx and rail corridor modelling is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Competency in BIM Collaboration tools like ProjectWise and BIM 360.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
