Job summary

Scotiabank is seeking a senior CIAM engineer to drive hands-on implementation of enterprise identity and access management solutions. You will lead CIAM configuration, integration, and security practices across multiple channels and geographies, ensuring regulatory compliance and reliable identity services.

The role requires deep expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring, CIAM platforms, and IAM design for cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on experience with microservice implementation using Java/J2EE, Spring, Gradle, NodeJS, Restful APIs, Cloud SQL, and Kafka.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with major CIAM platforms (ForgeRock, Ping) with exposure to Okta a plus.
• 5 years experience in automating deployment processes and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Google Cloud Deployment).
• Strong understanding of authentication and authorization protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, LDAP).
• Proven ability to design and implement IAM solutions for enterprise and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with identity federation, SSO, MFA, and adaptive authentication strategies.

Responsibilities

• Drive hands-on engineering, configuration, and integration of CIAM solutions to support security and identity modernization goals.
• Implement, maintain, and continuously improve CIAM capabilities and services.
• Design CIAM frameworks aligned with security standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and apply best practices for identity federation, SSO, MFA, OAuth2/OIDC.
• Ensure CIAM work meets regulatory, compliance, and security requirements across channels/geographies.
• Support onboarding, integration, and expansion of digital channels into CIAM platforms.
• Perform risk assessments and security reviews for CIAM integrations and mitigation strategies.
• Refine deployment processes, onboarding workflows, and implementation guidelines.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, security, and operations teams for adoption of CIAM services.
• Create and maintain technical documentation (architecture diagrams, guides, procedures).
• Establish relationships across technology and business partners and stakeholders.
• Understand Scotiabank risk appetite in daily activities.
• Champion customer-focused engineering mindset in team culture.
