Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, is seeking a Category Manager-Raw Materials based in Canada. You will lead strategic sourcing and supplier management across a broad portfolio of raw materials supporting manufacturing operations.

You will shape category strategies that balance cost, quality, supply continuity, and risk, analyze markets and spend data, and collaborate with Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, and Finance to deliver measurable business value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or equivalent.
• 8+ years in chemical industry procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or category management.
• Experience with SAP or ERP systems; advanced Excel/Office skills.
• Six Sigma/Lean training or certifications preferred.
• Strong ability to analyze market data to support strategic decisions.
• Knowledge of commodity markets, cost drivers, and supplier dynamics.
• Proven negotiation, sourcing, supplier management, and contract management capabilities.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing and category management strategies for raw materials.
• Negotiate cost-effective supplier contracts with transparent spending and risk management.
• Monitor global markets, feedstock trends, and capacity to identify pressures and opportunities.
• Align category strategies with production needs, product development, and financial planning.
• Analyze spend and market data to identify cost reductions and productivity gains.
• Establish supplier performance programs with scorecards and reviews.
• Contribute to KPIs related to cost productivity and supplier risk.
• Lead sustainability initiatives to improve procurement performance.
• Support Source-to-Pay process improvements and process efficiencies.
• Maintain strong supplier and stakeholder relationships and manage change.
