Job summary

Niagara Health is seeking a Senior Case Costing Performance Advisor in St. Catharines, hybrid role. You will lead data-driven costing and MIS submissions to the Ministry, mentor analysts, and collaborate across departments to improve clinical and financial outcomes.

The role requires strong analytical skills, experience in finance or decision support, and proficiency with Excel, Power BI, SAS, SQL, and reporting tools. Ontario healthcare experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• University Degree or Masters in Health Informatics, Health Administration, or a related field. Alternatively, possession of a Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is highly valued
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Finance and/or Decision Support is preferred, though candidates with a strong analytical background from diverse fields are encouraged to apply
• Previous experience with Case Costing or Cost Accounting is an asset but not mandatory, as we welcome individuals with diverse expertise
• Demonstrated familiarity with data analytics, statistics, and financial modeling, showcasing an ability to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets
• Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Power Point, and experience with report writers or statistical packages (e.g., SAS, SQL, Crystal)
• Knowledge of Ministry of Health Information Standards (MIS/OHRS) is an asset
• Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to manage a diversified workload, meet multiple deadlines, and thrive in a time-sensitive environment
• Exhibit flexibility and self-direction, working effectively with minimal supervision while adapting to evolving priorities
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team, translating complex information into clear and actionable insights
• Excellent decision-making skills, critical thinking, and analytical abilities, demonstrating a strategic approach to problem-solving
• Bring a creative and proactive problem-solving approach, contributing to innovative solutions in the field of healthcare finance

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the core functions of our case costing processes and Ontario Case Costing Submission
• Identify and champion innovative approaches for the effective utilization of patient-specific costing and MIS Statistical data
• Collaborate with internal departments to understand their data needs and proactively provide solutions that drive programmatic success
• Provide analytical insights and actively contribute to the development of data-driven strategies that elevate operational efficiency and program outcomes
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure transparency and traceability in case costing and MIS statistical reporting
• Implement and manage robust audit protocols to identify and address data integrity issues promptly
• Ensure the reliability, accuracy, and consistency of MIS statistical and workload data, fostering a culture of data quality across the organization
• Mentor junior analysts within the case costing department, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data-driven insights into programmatic decision-making processes
• Play an active role in various ad-hoc projects, leveraging your expertise to provide valuable insights and support
