Qualifications:
Essential:
- Must have an undergraduate degree in business/finance, or a combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to think critically.
- Experience in preparing and analyzing financial reports in order to provide advice and support to management in decision making.
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with the team, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Superior verbal communication skills, with experience communicating complex financial information to a variety of audiences, including senior management.
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel, with a proven ability to create, modify, and maintain advanced financial models through data manipulation and complex analysis (formulas, pivot tables, charting, etc).
Desired:
- An MBA, CFA or other professional designation is an asset.
- Experience with VBA coding, or other coding applications is an asset.
- Knowledge of Government procedures and legislation as it relates to borrowing programs and borrowing authorities is an asset.
- Knowledge of and experience with Bloomberg’s pricing and research capabilities as it relates to fixed income is an asset.
- Knowledge of domestic and international capital markets is an asset.
Duties:
As a Senior Capital Markets Analyst, you will directly support Treasury Division’s transactional activities including more than $5 billion of annual debt issuance and derivative execution. Immersed in Canadian debt capital markets, your analytical skills and ability to think critically will be key to your success, as you will be tasked with maintaining, analyzing, and designing various financial models to help with the decision-making process in the Capital Markets Branch. As a key player, you'll gain firsthand experience in Government Finance by handling the documentation for domestic and international debenture issuance and assisting with derivative calculations for the Province’s hedging program. Attention to detail is crucial as you reconcile the Province's debt balances, track various authorities, and contribute to the reporting mechanisms of the official financial publications for the Government of Manitoba. You will collaborate with your Capital Markets team members on the trading floor to identify efficiencies in current processes, and to support each other in complicated analysis and meet strict deadlines.
