Senior Buyer - Subcontracting Manufacturing

Role Overview

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will source, negotiate, and purchase subcontract machining and fabrication services. Your responsibilities include managing purchase orders, supplier evaluation, negotiation, cost savings initiatives, and ensuring timely delivery.

Responsibilities

• Process purchasing documentation according to ATS policies.
• Monitor and ensure on-time delivery of purchase orders.
• Evaluate and approve suppliers to meet company standards.
• Negotiate prices, discounts, and delivery terms.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through review of product and service usage.
• Resolve invoicing discrepancies and approve payments.
• Manage supply chain strategies including supplier consolidation and cost containment.
• Assist in research and development of products and procurement activities.
• Review blueprints to select optimal subcontract suppliers.
• Maintain favorable terms and conditions with suppliers.

Qualifications

Education: Post-secondary diploma/degree in materials management or related field; Supply Chain Canada designation is an asset; manufacturing or engineering background is beneficial.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in purchasing, with experience in machining or fabrication. Familiarity with engineering drawings, MS Office, negotiation, and team leadership skills are required.
