Job summary

JRoss Recruiters is seeking a Senior Buyer for a multi-brand retail environment. You will identify emerging brands, manage seasonal assortments, and build strong vendor partnerships to drive a cohesive product strategy aligned with customer preferences.

You will analyze sales and inventory data, collaborate with Merchandising and Marketing, and mentor junior team members to maintain a competitive product narrative and execution excellence.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer within fashion, jewellery, accessories, or lifestyle retail.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and source emerging brands, designers, and product lines aligned with the company’s aesthetic, customer profile, and business objectives.
  • Monitor fashion trends, competitive activity, and consumer preferences to inform buying decisions and identify new opportunities.
  • Develop strategies to expand and diversify product offerings while maintaining a cohesive brand identity.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, collaborating on collections, launches, marketing opportunities, and brand initiatives.
  • Manage seasonal assortments across multiple brands, categories, and price points, ensuring a balanced and commercially successful product mix.
  • Analyze sales performance, inventory productivity, sell-through, and customer insights to optimize future buying decisions.
  • Partner with Merchandising and Marketing teams to create compelling product stories and campaigns.
  • Provide leadership with vendor performance reviews, sales analysis, and inventory recommendations.

Job description

  • Develop strategies to expand and diversify product offerings while maintaining a cohesive brand identity.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, collaborating on collections, launches, marketing opportunities, and brand initiatives.
  • Manage seasonal assortments across multiple brands, categories, and price points, ensuring a balanced and commercially successful product mix.
  • Analyze sales performance, inventory productivity, sell-through, and customer insights to optimize future buying decisions.
  • Partner with Merchandising and Marketing teams to create compelling product stories and campaigns.
  • Provide leadership with vendor performance reviews, sales analysis, and inventory recommendations.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with Buying, Marketing, Pricing, and Merchandising teams to ensure alignment on product launches, promotions, and seasonal strategies.
  • Partner with Pricing leadership on markdown strategies, sell-through opportunities, and exit channels.
  • Support seasonal financial planning, forecasting, and open-to-buy management.
  • Mentor and support members of the Buying team, providing guidance on vendor management, product selection, and market analysis.
  • Lead research initiatives related to trend forecasting, competitive analysis, and new brand opportunities.

Operational Excellence

  • Develop tools, processes, and systems that improve buying efficiency and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Maintain organized product information, vendor records, and collection timelines.
  • Contribute to budgeting, reporting, and business planning initiatives.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer within fashion, jewellery, accessories, or lifestyle retail.
  • Strong multi-brand retail experience with the ability to curate distinctive and commercially successful assortments.
  • Exceptional product sensibility, trend awareness, and a strong understanding of customer preferences.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage retail metrics including margin, open-to-buy, sell-through, and inventory productivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong vendor partnerships and negotiate effectively.
  • Experience mentoring and developing team members.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and retail reporting systems.
  • Willingness to travel and maintain a strong connection to the retail environment.
