Job summary

The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Sr. Business Development Representative in Winnipeg to manage brokerage relationships and drive growth across Manitoba and Saskatchewan. This role blends in‑office collaboration two days a week with remote work, in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or wholesale distribution in relationship‑driven, target‑based settings.
  • Post‑secondary education in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field. CIP or CRM designation is a plus; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience in commercial and farm insurance is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Salesforce CRM experience required.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills with goal setting, resource planning, and timelines.
  • Strong presentation and training skills with ability to deliver impactful sessions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to motivate teams.
  • Insurance designation is an asset; must have a clean driver's abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Manage brokerage relationships and achieve growth targets with contracted brokers.
  • Act as liaison between Wawanesa and brokers to ensure smooth communication.
  • Achieve monthly scorecard targets for lead generation, quotes, and binding in the broker territory.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development to support plans and growth.
  • Maintain knowledge of marketplace, products, brokerages, and competitors.
  • Identify non-contracted opportunities and new territories for expansion.
  • Perform duties as assigned.

Job Overview
Under minimal supervision the Sr. Business Development Representative will; manage brokerage relationships between Wawanesa and brokerage network, develop and achieve targeted business goals with contracted brokers, and develop opportunities to grow the business with new brokerages and territories within the Saskatchewan and Manitoba region, all which reflect Wawanesa’s strategies.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the brokerage relationship which includes; establishing and managing production results, setting and achieving growth and marketing plans based on individual brokerage plans and regional goals, and assessing a brokerages benefit or risk to regional goals.
  • Act as the central liaison between Wawanesa and our brokers to ensure flow of communication and assist in solving any company/brokerage concerns.
  • Accountable for achieving monthly scorecard targets related to lead generation and quoting and binding results within the assigned broker territory.
  • Work effectively with functional departments and management teams to achieve plans and goals, which includes; training sessions, facilitating meetings with Wawanesa and brokerage staff, implementing underwriting plans, providing marketplace information, and directing claim or underwriting concerns to the appropriate channels at broker and Wawanesa offices.
  • Maintain a strong understanding and knowledge of marketplace, products, brokerages, and competitors.
  • Assess non contracted brokerage opportunities and territories to achieve growth and production plans.
  • Liaison and coordinate efforts with all Marketing and Business Development departments as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or wholesale distribution roles, ideally within relationship‑driven, target‑based environments focused on market expansion and revenue growth.
  • Post‑secondary education in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. CIP or CRM designation is an asset; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience in commercial and farm insurance is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience using and maintaining account information in CRM tools such as Salesforce is required.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills involving goal setting and results measurement, with the ability to develop effective plans that define activities, resources and timelines.
  • Strong presentation and training skills with the ability to effectively facilitate sessions and deliver powerful presentations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and ensure understanding.
  • Strong team player who facilitates high morale by encouraging others to be excited, motivated, and enthusiastic.
  • Insurance Designation considered an asset.
  • Must have a clean drivers abstract.
