Job description

Are you a Senior Business Architect with deep experience in enterprise architecture, GIS systems, and government transformation initiatives? This contract role offers the chance to shape strategic architecture across multiple modernization projects related to geospatial platforms and services. Ideal for someone who thrives on developing detailed architectural artifacts and engaging with diverse stakeholders at all levels.

This is a 4-month contract with a possibility of a 15-business-day extension, open to Ontario residents only. The role offers flexible remote work, with optional attendance at offices in Peterborough or Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Business and Information Architectures for key geospatial projects
  • Support enterprise architecture gating processes, focusing on AGP 0 to 3 deliverables
  • Facilitate alignment between business processes and data models
  • Engage and consult with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver architecture strategies
  • Create Conceptual and Logical Data Models aligned with enterprise standards
  • Contribute to modernization efforts in GIS delivery, maintenance, and portal deployments
  • Work on legacy transformation initiatives by recommending scalable architecture designs
  • Ensure compliance with architecture frameworks, governance, and information management policies
  • Prepare documentation such as Business Architecture Document (BAD) and Information Architecture Document (IAD)
  • Participate in technical evaluations and support procurement-related architecture documentation

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years in Business Architecture roles
  • Proven track record in creating business and information architectures for large enterprises
  • Experience with architecture gating processes (AGP 1 and 2)
  • Hands-on with business process modeling, BPMN, and conceptual / logical data modeling
  • Familiarity with data governance, information management, and digital transformation standards
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to lead and guide project teams, analysts, and fellow architects in alignment processes
  • Understanding of architecture methodologies such as TOGAF, and use of documentation standards
  • Experience integrating business architecture into solution requirements and technical documentation

Nice to Have :

Knowledge of Zachman Framework

Experience in other architecture domains (e.g., Application Architecture)

Familiarity with Privacy, Records Management, and Accessibility (AODA) compliance

Ability to leverage cutting-edge technologies in business architecture

Experience with SAFe methodology and service design principles

Proficiency with EA modeling tools (e.g., PowerDesigner, Sparx EA, Orbus)

Experience supporting procurement processes through architectural documentation
