Job summary

CIMA+ in Canada is seeking a Building Mechanical Technologist to join our multidisciplinary Buildings team, delivering mechanical systems for federal, municipal, and public-sector projects across Ontario. You’ll collaborate with engineers, architects, and technicians from concept through construction.

This role can be based in Bowmanville, Mississauga or Kitchener with a hybrid 2-days-a-week office schedule.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent from an accredited college.
• Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Technician (C.Tech) designation is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is required.
• Knowledge of BIM coordination practices and multidisciplinary project delivery.
• Familiarity with public-sector and federal government projects is an asset.
• PSPC Reliability Clearance is required; Secret Level II clearance is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical drawings and BIM models for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems.
• Develop design documentation using Revit and AutoCAD in accordance with company standards and client requirements.
• Assist engineers with system layouts, equipment selection, calculations, and specifications.
• Support designs that comply with NBCC, OBC, NECB, ASHRAE, CSA, and client guidelines.
• Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil disciplines.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration activities.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning support.
• Assist with documentation for security-sensitive facilities.
• Support project schedules and internal design reviews.

We are seeking a Building Mechanical Technologist to join our multidisciplinary Buildings team. This role supports the design and delivery of mechanical building systems for a diverse portfolio of projects, with a strong emphasis on federal, municipal, and public-sector clients across Ontario. Working closely with engineers, architects, and other technical professionals, you will contribute to projects from early design through construction, including secure facilities, office buildings, healthcare, and other institutional environments.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical drawings and BIM models for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related building systems
• Develop design documentation using Revit and AutoCAD,in accordance with company standards and client requirements
• Assist engineers with system layouts, equipment selection, calculations, and specifications
• Support designs that comply with federal and provincial standards, including National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), Ontario Building Code (OBC), NECB, ASHRAE, CSA, and client-specific federal guidelines
• Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil disciplines in a multi-discipline environment
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration activities
• Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning support as required
• Assist with documentation for security-sensitive and controlled-access facilities
• Support project schedules, quality control processes, and internal design reviews

Profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent from an accredited college
• 5+ years of experience in building mechanical design, preferably within a consulting engineering environment
• Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is required
• Knowledge of software MicroStation a great asset
• Familiarity with public-sector and federal government projects is strongly preferred
• Experience with institutional, laboratory, healthcare, or office building projects is an assetKnowledge of BIM coordination practices and multidisciplinary project delivery
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• PSPC Reliability Clearance is required, Secret Level II clearance is an asset
• Certified Engineering Technologist or Technician (C.E.T. or C.Tech)
• Valid driver’s licence
