Job summary

WSP in Canada is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead bridge design across Ontario, with offices in Thunder Bay or Sudbury. The role requires a PEO‑licensed professional engineer with 7–12 years of Canadian bridge experience.

You will oversee complex projects, coordinate teams, and deliver designs, drawings and reports to ensure quality and compliance. The ideal candidate has strong communication and leadership skills, proficiency in structural analysis software, and a proven ability to manage

Qualifications

  • University degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (licensed with PEO) with 7–12 years demonstrated experience in structural design and bridge engineering in Canada.
  • Masters degree in Structural Engineering is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software used in bridge design and assessment.
  • Experience in report and proposal writing.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on several projects at a time with multiple design teams.
  • Committed team player with willingness to help others and collaborate with team members.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of current Canadian design codes and standards.
  • Experience with inspection, assessment and rehabilitation of existing structures.

  • Lead the preliminary and detailed design of complex bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other civil structures for all levels of government.
  • Perform and coordinate structural analysis and design.
  • Manage bridge engineering projects, coordinate design teams, and support project management and technical teams across WSP.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications and reports.
  • Provide QA/QC and peer‑review services for designs and drawings.
  • Review shop drawings and provide engineering support during construction.
  • Contribute to proposal development and technical write‑ups.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to intermediate and junior engineers, support staff, contractors, and/or vendors.
  • Demonstrate sound written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical and application skills.
  • Work well under pressure to meet project deadlines.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $114,600 – $151,800
MB & ON: $104,500 – $143,900
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $103,500 – $137,400
