Job summary

Actadv, a growing company in Hamilton, is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant. This role blends accounting and administrative responsibilities, where you will manage financial statements, payroll, and assist the business owner with special projects. We're looking for a candidate with 5-7 years of experience and strong software skills, particularly in Sage or QuickBooks.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who enjoys a mix of financial and administrative responsibilities. You’ll play a key part in our day-to-day operations while also supporting the business owner on special projects.

  • Vacation: 2 weeks

What You'll Do

This position is approximately 80% accounting/bookkeeping and 20% administrative/project support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post month-end and year-end financial statements
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Complete payroll for approximately 55 employees
  • Handle remittances and bank reconciliations
  • Assist with pre-qualification documentation for project estimates
  • Collaborate with the owner on ad hoc projects and operational initiatives

What We're Looking For

Experience & Skills:

  • 5–7 years in a similar accounting/bookkeeping role
  • Solid working knowledge of Sage (preferred), QuickBooks, or similar accounting software
  • Professional maturity and the ability to mentor junior staff

  • Prior experience in a small or mid-sized business environment
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to pitch in on various projects
