AECOM Mississauga is seeking a Senior BIM Specialist to drive digital design coordination for major transportation projects. Job description

AECOM Mississauga is hiring a Senior BIM Specialist to support the delivery of major transportation infrastructure projects. In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary BIM coordination across complex rail and transit programs, ensuring integrated, high-quality digital design deliverables. You will work closely with internal design teams, clients, and delivery partners to coordinate models, manage interface risks, support key project milestones, and promote BIM best practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Digital Design Coordination


  • Lead BIM coordination across multidisciplinary rail and transit design workstreams, including Track, Signaling, Electrification, Overhead Contact System (OCS), Utilities, Structures, and Civil disciplines.

  • Coordinate federated models and lead clash detection and resolution activities to support coordinated and constructible design deliverables.

  • Identify, track, and facilitate resolution of interface issues between disciplines, escalating complex or high-impact risks when required.

  • Coordinate BIM deliverables supporting project design reviews and milestone submissions, ensuring models meet established quality and readiness requirements.

  • Facilitate multidisciplinary coordination meetings, document actions, and track issues through to resolution.


Digital Delivery & Quality


  • Maintain and promote compliance with project BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), digital delivery standards, and model quality requirements.

  • Perform model validation and quality assurance reviews to ensure consistency with project standards and client requirements.

  • Support the implementation of Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows using approved digital delivery platforms.

  • Monitor coordination progress and prepare reports on clash status, interface resolution, and model readiness for project leadership.

  • Identify opportunities to improve coordination workflows and digital delivery processes to enhance project efficiency and reduce downstream rework.


Technical Leadership


  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate BIM professionals.

  • Support project teams in applying BIM standards, coordination workflows, and digital engineering best practices.

  • Collaborate with Digital Delivery leadership to continuously improve BIM processes and project delivery.


Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Information Technology, or another related discipline plus six (6) years of relevant experience , or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.

  • Six (6) years of experience supporting BIM or digital design delivery on transportation, rail, or major infrastructure projects.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary BIM models using Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.

  • Experience performing model federation, clash detection, and clash resolution for multidisciplinary engineering projects.

  • Experience supporting digital design reviews and project milestone submissions.

  • Experience working with Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, or ProjectWise.

  • Working knowledge of BIM standards, including ISO 19650 principles and digital delivery best practices.

  • Experience supporting large, complex rail or transit infrastructure programs.

  • Experience coordinating Track, Signaling, Electrification, Overhead Contact System (OCS), Civil, Structural, or Utility design disciplines.

  • Experience integrating BIM and GIS workflows.

  • Experience using Power BI or similar data visualization tools to support project reporting.

  • Experience developing or implementing BIM standards, templates, and quality assurance processes.

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring BIM professionals and supporting multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder coordination skills within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
