Job summary

Cambrian Credit Union Limited in Winnipeg is seeking a Senior Banking Advisor to support small business and retail members with complex banking needs, delivering tailored credit and deposit solutions and guiding members through the lending process.

You will build a robust member portfolio through proactive relationship management, collaborate with Wealth Management and Commercial teams, and promote the full Cambrian product suite while maintaining high service standards and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary degree, diploma or certificate in business or equivalent experience in commercial and retail/personal financial services.
  • You enjoy building relationships with people and want to provide solutions that simplify their finances.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience delivering tailored financial advice and solutions on commercial/small business lending, multi-unit residential mortgages, construction projects, self-build, remodel mortgages and more complex credit requests.
  • Digital literacy, comfort navigating applications in a digital and mobile environment.
  • Proficient in PC applications of Outlook, Word & Excel.
  • Critical thinker who analyzes information and uses logic to address issues, problems and challenges.
  • Ability to work well in an environment with multiple and often changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and process small business lending requests ($100K-$2M), multi-unit residential mortgages, construction projects, self-build, remodel mortgages and more complex credit requests.
  • Serve members with complex personal net worth and diverse income sources, providing expert guidance on credit, deposits, and investment products while leveraging internal specialists as needed.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of opportunities for small business and high-value members through proactive prospecting, referrals, and execution of annual sales and marketing plans.
  • Proactively promote, sell, and service Cambrian's products, including premium/business Mastercards, while identifying wealth management and cross-referral opportunities between Retail and Commercial teams.
  • Apply due diligence in credit decisions, monitor assigned portfolios for risk, manage CAFT requests, and ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with Commercial Banking, Wealth Management, and branch teams to deliver integrated solutions, mentor colleagues, and foster a positive, service-oriented environment.
  • Meet and exceed assigned targets through proactive sales techniques, relationship building, and consistent delivery of exceptional member experiences.

Cambrian Credit Union is searching for a Senior Banking Advisor experienced in supporting small business members and retail members with more complex banking requirements to join our growing team.

As a member of the regional team and supporting multiple branches, the Senior Banking Advisor works to understand the financial needs of small business members and retail members with more complex banking requirements. They provide appropriate financial advice and recommendations, including complex credit and deposit solutions, while proactively identifying opportunities for Cambrian products and services.

The Senior Banking Advisor builds and grows the member portfolio through dedicated relationship management and exceptional service. This includes working with referrals from branches, Wealth Management, and the Commercial department, as well as developing relationships with external centres of influence to generate new business opportunities. The role requires working closely with branch teams to ensure a seamless handoff of relationships involving more complex transactions, delivering an integrated and positive member experience.

Key responsibilities include proactively engaging with new and existing members to deepen relationships and identify financial needs, providing expert advice on complex credit and deposit services, leveraging referrals and internal partnerships to create business opportunities and promoting Cambrian's full suite of products and services to meet member needs.

Your experience:
