Job summary

Compunnel, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud-based software systems in Mississauga.

You will architect backend services, build robust APIs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data-intensive applications. The role emphasizes serverless and microservices architectures, secure and high-performance backend development, and applying AI/LLMs to improve design and testing processes.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with microservices architecture and related technologies.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience developing scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving technical environments.
• Experience working in Agile or Lean development environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and test backend APIs, software features, and product infrastructure.
• Build scalable and reliable backend solutions using serverless computing, distributed platforms, and cloud technologies.
• Utilize AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) to accelerate software design, implementation, and optimization.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive automated tests to ensure software quality.
