Job summary

Expretio seeks an experienced Backend Java Developer to join our Montreal team. You will contribute to the Appia backend, collaborating with Product and R&D, driving feature feasibility, and ensuring robust persistence and API layers (REST/GraphQL) using Spring Boot, PostgreSQL or MongoDB.

You will also mentor teammates, influence architecture, and help reduce technical debt while improving performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional Java development experience across complex multi-team projects.
• 5+ years with Spring Boot and Spring frameworks.
• 5+ years of SQL, Hibernate, and PostgreSQL experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs (REST, GraphQL).
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps for CI/CD and deployments.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Ensure code quality with unit/integration tests and performance optimizations.
• Participate in maintaining and evolving legacy features and database models.
