Job description

Senior Automation Engineer (Python, AI Agents & Automation) based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to design and scale intelligent automation across documentation, localization, and language operations. You will build production-grade automation, AI agents, scripts, and integrations that connect tools, systems, and teams across complex workflows. Working within a global Agile environment, you will collaborate with engineers, DevOps professionals, information developers, localization specialists, and other stakeholders. You will use Python, application programming interfaces (APIs), continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and large language models (LLMs) to eliminate repetitive work and improve operational efficiency. The role combines hands‑on engineering with architectural ownership, reliability, and continuous improvement. You will also contribute reusable automation standards and mentor other team members. This is an impactful opportunity to help shape AI‑enabled workflows while improving the scalability, reliability, and quality of global content operations.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of automation supporting workflows throughout the documentation and software development lifecycle, including content creation, validation, publishing, user interface localization, translation, and delivery.
  • Build, operate, and continuously improve production‑grade AI agents, skills, scripts, and automation pipelines that replace complex, repetitive, and manual processes across documentation, localization, and language operations.
  • Architect and integrate systems across documentation, localization, and content platforms using Model Context Protocols (MCPs), REST APIs, and other integration technologies to create secure, scalable, and reliable end‑to‑end workflows.
  • Apply artificial intelligence and large language model capabilities to generate, validate, transform, enrich, and manage content while adhering to approved security, privacy, and compliance standards.
  • Own the reliability, performance, maintainability, monitoring, and troubleshooting of automation systems, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Define and contribute to automation standards, design patterns, reusable components, and engineering practices that enable consistent and scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineers, DevOps teams, information developers, localization specialists, and other cross‑functional stakeholders to advance automation maturity and AI‑assisted workflows.
  • Provide technical mentorship through design reviews, knowledge sharing, and guidance on automation and AI engineering practices.
  • Contribute to additional projects and responsibilities as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in automation engineering, software engineering, systems integration, or a closely related discipline, preferably within developer platforms, documentation, localization, or content operations.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, with demonstrated experience building maintainable, testable, and production‑grade automation and agent frameworks.
  • Advanced experience with Git‑based development workflows, including GitHub, pull requests, code reviews, and repository automation.
  • Strong understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) concepts and experience with tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience using work‑tracking and planning platforms such as Jira, Linear, or similar tools.
  • Proven experience using AI‑assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor, with an understanding of responsible AI practices covering security, privacy, bias, and traceability.
  • Hands‑on experience developing production automation with Python and REST APIs, as well as integrating LLMs through APIs to automate documentation and language‑related workflows.
  • Experience building and maintaining automation pipelines within Git‑based CI/CD environments.
  • Strong problem‑solving, collaboration, communication, and technical leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of complex automation initiatives, and continuously improve existing systems.
  • Flexibility to accommodate global collaboration, including occasional late‑afternoon meetings.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience designing or operating multi‑agent or tool‑orchestrated AI workflows at scale, including coordination, resilience, and failure recovery.
  • Experience owning or evolving shared automation frameworks used by multiple products or teams.
  • Familiarity with observability, operational metrics, performance monitoring, and cost tracking for AI‑driven automation systems.
  • Experience containerizing, deploying, and operating long‑running automation or AI agent services in production environments.
Benefits
  • 100% remote work within the applicable location.
  • Opportunity to work in an AI‑first, agentic engineering environment.
  • Exposure to advanced AI, LLM, automation, and API‑driven technologies.
  • Opportunity to build and scale automation used across global documentation, localization, and language operations.
  • Collaboration with globally distributed engineering, DevOps, content, and localization teams.
  • Opportunities to influence automation standards, reusable frameworks, and AI‑enabled workflows.
  • Career development opportunities through technical ownership, mentoring, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Inclusive and collaborative international work environment.
  • Opportunity to contribute to initiatives focused on improving efficiency, reliability, and quality through AI and automation.
