Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Program Volunteer Coordinator, performs and carries out some Services supervisory tasks and responsibilities as necessary.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the orientation and training staff and volunteers.
  • Performs public relations role in absence of full time staff and handles inquiries and complaints.
  • Responds to the need for assistance in all Service areas.
  • Monitors shift changes at the Reception desk and plans work for volunteers.
  • Assists in cash control procedures for Services area and ensures all reports and cash receipts are balanced.
  • Verifies cash deposits.
  • Attends and participates in Services and General Staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Secondary school graduation
  • Some post-secondary education and/or experience in business, recreation, sports or fitness is an asset

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with the public
  • Public relations experience and computer skills are an asset

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends
  • Must have or obtain within three months of employment, First Aid and CPR certification and WHMIS (courses available through employer)
  • Must obtain customer service training at the first available opportunity
  • Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Part-time (not to exceed 24 hours per week)
  • Irregular hours (evenings and weekends)
