Job summary

Madison Hunt, in collaboration with a leading global investor, seeks a Senior Associate for its Toronto-based energy investment team. Based in Toronto, you will work on opportunities across Canada and the U.S., taking ownership of transactions from underwriting to portfolio management and follow-on activity.

You will lead execution, due diligence, and investment analysis, contributing across the full lifecycle and mentoring junior team members in a fast-paced deal environment.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5-8 years of relevant experience in private equity, infrastructure or energy investing, investment banking, project finance or related transactional environment.
• Senior Associate level or equivalent responsibility.
• Strong financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis capabilities.

Responsibilities

Madison Hunt is partnering with a leading global institutional investor to appoint a Senior Associate to its Toronto-based energy investment team.

This is an opportunity to join a highly established global investment platform with significant capital to deploy across the energy and infrastructure sectors. The team invests across the full energy value chain, including power and renewables, conventional energy, midstream and energy transition infrastructure, pursuing both control investments and significant minority positions.

Based in Toronto, the successful candidate will work as part of an integrated North American investment team and gain broad exposure to transactions across both Canada and the United States. The role will suit an experienced investment professional looking to take meaningful ownership of transactions, lead key execution and diligence workstreams, and contribute across the full investment lifecycle from initial underwriting through to portfolio management and follow-on investment activity.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and execute new investment opportunities across the energy and infrastructure sectors
• Lead financial analysis, valuation and financial modelling for prospective investments
• Manage key transaction workstreams and coordinate commercial, financial, technical and legal due diligence
• Assess investment opportunities, risks and potential returns and contribute to the development of investment theses
• Prepare and present investment recommendations and materials for investment committee consideration
• Support transaction structuring, negotiation and execution alongside senior members of the investment team
• Work with portfolio companies and investment partners on strategic initiatives, follow-on investments and other value creation opportunities
• Provide guidance and support to junior members of the investment team
• Contribute to sector research, thematic investment work and the identification of new investment opportunities

Required Skills & Experience

• Approximately 5-8 years of relevant experience within private equity, infrastructure or energy investing, investment banking, project finance or a related transactional environment
• Currently operating at Senior Associate level, or an equivalent level of responsibility
• Strong transaction execution experience with the ability to independently manage significant workstreams
• Excellent financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis capabilities
• Experience across energy and/or infrastructure, with exposure to power, renewables, conventional energy or midstream particularly relevant
• Strong commercial judgement and an ability to assess investments from both a financial and strategic perspective
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate investment recommendations clearly
• Collaborative working style and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced deal environment
• Undergraduate degree with a strong academic record
