Job summary

Keller Developments in Brandon, Manitoba seeks a Senior Architectural Designer to lead design and drawing packages for residential, commercial, and multi-residential projects within Myria Design. You’ll guide concepts through permit-ready documentation, coordinating with PMs, engineers, and consultants.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliant, feasible designs; mentoring junior designers; reviewing drawings; and visiting sites as needed. Strong AutoCAD and building-code knowledge required.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in building design or drafting.
• Ability to manage projects at a senior level.
• Post-secondary education in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Expert proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations, zoning, and permitting processes.
• Experience coordinating designs with project managers, engineers, architects, or other consultants.
• Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.

• Lead design development from initial concepts through permit-ready and tender documentation.
• Work with project managers to understand client needs, project scope, timelines, and contract requirements.
• Access design feasibility and identify potential construction, coordination, or compliance issues.
• Coordinate drawings with civil designers, engineers, architects, surveyors, and other consultants.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, code compliance, construction feasibility, and alignment with project requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and drawing review support for junior designers.
• Research building codes, bylaws, products, and construction components as needed.
• Visit project sites to take measurements, assess existing conditions, or prepare as-built drawings.
• Issue drawings at project milestones and follow established review and submission procedures.
• Review shop drawings and incorporate approved information into design documents when required.
• Support project managers, superintendents, and foremen with design questions, sketches, and drawing revisions during construction.

About the Role

Keller Developments is seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Designer to join Myria Design, our in-house design division. The role leads the development of design and drawing packages for residential, commercial and multi-residential projects, working closely with project managers, consultants and the construction team.

From early concepts through permitting, tendering, and construction, this role helps ensure designs are practical, coordinated, and aligned with project requirements. The role also provides technical guidance and drawing review support to other members of the design team, alongside the Design Manager.

Requirements

• Several years of experience in building design or drafting, with the ability to manager projects at a senior level
• Post-secondary education in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field
• Expert proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, contract documents, building materials, and construction methods
• Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations, zoning, and permitting processes
• Experience coordinating designs with project managers, engineers, architects, or other consultants
• Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
• A valid Class 5 driver?s licence and reliable vehicle

The following experience and skills would be an asset

• Experience with Revit, Civil 3D, or other design software
• Experience mentoring or reviewing work of other designers
