Job summary

RevelHouse is a design-driven studio in Toronto seeking a Senior Architect to lead project teams from concept through construction administration. This senior, hands-on role fits an experienced, licensed professional with strong technical expertise, interior architecture passion, and leadership to mentor a growing studio.

As a member of a small firm, you will carry meaningful ownership of each project and collaborate closely with the Principal.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited institution.
• Registration as a Licensed Architect with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA).
• Minimum 8 years post-graduate experience leading commercial projects (hospitality, entertainment, retail, or leisure) through construction.
• Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Toronto Zoning By-laws, AODA accessibility standards, and municipal approval processes.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Cloud; 3D modelling experience is an asset.
• Expertise in interior architecture, joinery and millwork detailing, envelope design, and material specification.

Responsibilities

• Lead the production of architectural and interior drawings across all project phases.
• Translate design concepts into coordinated technical documents ensuring buildability and standards.
• Manage subconsultant coordination and integrate drawings into the master set.
• Lead design reviews, QA/QC, and code compliance audits.
• Oversee day-to-day project execution, timelines, scope, and fees; mentor junior team.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, site visits, and coordinate construction administration.
• Prepare graphics, diagrams, reports, and client/internal presentations.

RevelHouse is a design-driven studio specializing in commercial (hospitality and entertainment), recreational, and residential projects. We work at the intersection of architecture and interior design, and we bring the same rigour to both.

We are seeking a Senior Architect to lead project teams from concept through construction administration. This is a senior, hands on role suited to an experienced, licensed professional with strong technical expertise, a passion for interior architecture, and the leadership skills to mentor a growing studio team. As a member of a small firm, you will carry meaningful ownership of each project and work in close collaboration with the Principal.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and documentation: Lead the production of detailed architectural and interior drawings, specifications, and documentation across all project phases, from concept and permit through tender and construction.
• Technical execution: Translate design concepts into coordinated technical documents that ensure design continuity, buildability, and adherence to project standards.
• Project coordination: Manage subconsultant coordination (structural, mechanical, electrical, and others), review progress, and integrate consultant drawings and specifications into the master set.
• Quality and compliance: Lead design reviews, internal QA/QC processes, and code compliance audits to maintain technical accuracy across all deliverables.
• Project and team leadership: Oversee day-to-day project execution, monitor schedules, scope, and fees, track deliverables, and mentor intermediate and junior team members.
• Construction administration: Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, conduct site visits, and coordinate field reviews during construction.
• Communication: Prepare graphic presentations, diagrams, reports, and sketches for clients and internal stakeholders.

What You Bring

• Education: A professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited institution.
• Licensure: Registration as a Licensed Architect with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA).
• Experience: A minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience in architectural practice in Ontario, including a proven record of leading commercial projects (hospitality, entertainment, retail, or leisure) through construction. Multi-unit residential or interior-focused experience is a strong asset.
• Codes and standards: Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Toronto Zoning By-laws, AODA accessibility standards, and municipal approval processes (Site Plan Approval, building permits).
• Software: Advanced proficiency in Revit, along with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). 3D modelling experience is an asset.
• Technical detailing: Expertise in interior architecture, custom joinery and millwork detailing, envelope design, and material specification is an asset.
• Leadership: Proven ability to manage project timelines, fee scopes, and multidisciplinary consultant teams with minimal supervision.
• Communication and judgment: Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills, sound professional judgment, and a collaborative, detail-oriented approach that contributes to a respectful studio culture.

• Consultant sets are well integrated and construction-phase issues, RFIs, and site queries are resolved promptly and thoroughly.
• QA/QC and code compliance reviews consistently catch issues before they reach the field, protecting quality and the firm's standards.
• Intermediate and junior team members grow in capability under your mentorship.
• Clients experience clear communication and confidence in the studio's work, supporting repeat engagement and referrals.
