Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 +

Design Leadership. Career Growth. A Pathway to Partnership.

About The Firm

Our client is an established and respected architecture firm with a diverse portfolio of projects across British Columbia.

Known for their thoughtful design approach, strong client relationships and commitment to quality architecture, the firm offers a collaborative environment where creativity, technical expertise and leadership are valued.

As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Architect from Alberta who is open to relocating to Kamloops, BC, to take on a key leadership role within their local office.

This is an opportunity to influence the direction of an established practice, lead a talented team and work toward a future Principal or Partner position.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an AAA Registered Architect who is ready to take the next step in their career and interested in relocating to British Columbia.

You will take on a prominent leadership role within the Kamloops office, overseeing a diverse portfolio of architectural projects while providing design direction, mentoring the team and ensuring successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate brings a strong design aesthetic, extensive project management experience and the confidence to oversee multiple projects, manage client relationships and lead teams through all phases of design and construction.

Beyond project delivery, you will work closely with senior leadership on business development, building client relationships, identifying new opportunities and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

The firm is looking for someone motivated, entrepreneurial and passionate about architecture, with the ability to balance creative design, technical expertise and business leadership.

For the right individual, this position offers significant autonomy, long-term career growth and a strong trajectory toward Principal or Partner.

The Role
  • Lead and oversee a diverse range of architectural projects from concept through construction completion.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and technical guidance to the Kamloops team.
  • Manage multiple projects, overseeing budgets, schedules, resources and project deliverables.
  • Contribute strong design direction and maintain high architectural standards.
  • Oversee project coordination, consultant relationships, quality control and contract administration.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and industry partners.
  • Support business development initiatives, including networking, identifying opportunities and securing new projects.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on office operations, staffing and strategic planning.
  • Help shape the continued growth, culture and long-term success of the Kamloops office.
What We're Looking For
  • Registered Architect with the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA), with eligibility and willingness to obtain AIBC registration.
  • 10+ years of post-graduate architectural experience, with a diverse portfolio of projects across multiple sectors.
  • Strong design aesthetic, creative vision and passion for quality architecture.
  • Extensive project management experience, including successfully overseeing multiple projects through all phases.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience mentoring and managing architectural teams.
  • Strong understanding of project budgets, fee management, scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Business development experience, including client relationship management and identifying new opportunities.
  • Experience with mass timber construction considered an asset.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building codes, construction methods and architectural documentation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • A motivated, proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, with an interest in long-term practice leadership.
  • Willingness to relocate to Kamloops, BC, and establish a long-term presence within the office.
What's Offered
  • Competitive compensation based on experience, along with benefits.
  • A significant leadership opportunity within an established architectural practice.
  • A strong pathway for career advancement toward Principal or Partner.
  • The autonomy to influence office operations, design direction and business growth.
  • A diverse portfolio of projects offering creative and technical challenges.
  • The opportunity to lead, mentor and develop an architectural team.
  • Direct involvement in business development and strategic decision-making.
  • A collaborative, supportive workplace with experienced architectural professionals.
  • A long-term opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of the practice.
Why Consider Kamloops?

For an Architect considering a move from Calgary, Edmonton or elsewhere in Alberta, Kamloops offers an excellent combination of professional opportunity and lifestyle.

Located in BC's beautiful Thompson-Okanagan region, Kamloops offers a milder climate, longer outdoor seasons and easy access to lakes, mountains, hiking, mountain biking, golf and skiing at nearby Sun Peaks Resort.

With shorter commutes, a welcoming community and a relaxed pace of life, Kamloops provides an appealing alternative to larger urban centres while still offering access to amenities, recreation and a growing professional community.

More importantly, this role offers the opportunity to step into a meaningful leadership position, help shape the future of an established architectural practice and work toward future partnership.

If you're an experienced AAA Registered Architect who is ready for greater responsibility, leadership opportunities and a new chapter in British Columbia, we would love to hear from you.
