Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is recruiting for a Senior Architect in Victoria, BC. You will independently lead architectural projects from early design through construction administration, coordinating with clients, consultants, municipalities, and contractors to ensure on-time delivery and quality outcomes.

The role emphasizes strong leadership, design excellence, and client relationships across public, institutional, commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments in British Columbia.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • Registered Architect with the AIBC, or eligible for registration in British Columbia.
  • 8+ years of professional architectural experience.
  • Experience independently managing projects from design through construction administration.
  • Experience across public, institutional, civic, commercial, residential, or mixed-use developments.
  • Strong understanding of municipal approvals, BC Building Code, and construction practices.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.
  • Proficiency with Revit and other industry-standard design software.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, project management, and client relationship skills.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural projects from concept through construction administration and closeout.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, municipalities, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams throughout all project phases.
  • Prepare, review, and oversee design, development and building permits, tenders, and construction documents.
  • Navigate municipal approvals, zoning requirements, and regulatory approvals.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Lead consultant meetings, client presentations, and project coordination meetings.
  • Conduct construction administration, including site reviews, RFIs, submittals, and field coordination.
  • Mentor junior staff and promote a collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure projects are delivered with high technical quality and client service.

About The Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Architect who can independently lead architectural projects from early planning and design through construction administration and project completion.

As the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, municipalities, and contractors, you will oversee all aspects of project delivery, including design coordination, consultant management, municipal approvals, contract administration, and technical quality. You’ll manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring budgets, schedules, and client expectations are met.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing design leadership, technical delivery, project management, and strong client relationships across a diverse portfolio of work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead architectural projects from concept design through construction administration and project closeout.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, municipalities, and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams throughout all phases of project delivery.
  • Prepare, review, and oversee design, development permit, building permit, tender, and construction documentation.
  • Navigate municipal approval processes, zoning requirements, and regulatory approvals.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Lead consultant meetings, client presentations, and project coordination meetings.
  • Conduct construction administration, including site reviews, RFIs, submittals, shop drawing reviews, change management, and field coordination.
  • Mentor and support junior architectural staff while promoting a collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure projects are delivered with a high standard of technical quality, design excellence, and client service.
Qualifications
  • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Architect with the AIBC, or eligible for registration in British Columbia.
  • 8+ years of professional architectural experience.
  • Proven experience independently managing projects from early design through construction administration.
  • Experience across a variety of project sectors, including public, institutional, civic, commercial, residential, or mixed-use developments.
  • Strong understanding of municipal approval processes, BC Building Code, and construction practices.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.
  • Proficiency with Revit and other industry-standard design software.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, project management, and client relationship skills.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
