Ecofor Consulting Ltd. is a north American natural and cultural resource management firm offering expertise in biology, environment, and cultural resources. The Archaeologist Permit Holder will guide field programs, planning, data collection and reporting while collaborating with clients, Indigenous partners and regulators.
The role combines field and office work and requires strong communication, safety focus, and the ability to mentor staff and manage complex projects across Western Canada.

Salary Range: $98,571.20 – $121,264

Our team provides expertise in a broad range of disciplines in the biological, environmental, and social sciences. We specialize in fisheries, wildlife, aquatic and terrestrial resources, environmental management, archaeology and cultural resources, land use planning, ground penetrating radar, and forestry.
As the Archaeologist Permit Holder, you will provide technical leadership on archaeological projects from planning through completion, ensuring work meets professional, regulatory, and quality standards. You will guide archaeological field programs and contribute to project planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting in accordance with applicable legislation and best practices. Working closely with Project Managers and project teams, you will help support project delivery and ensure technical requirements are met. You will also mentor junior and intermediate staff, contribute to knowledge sharing, and support a collaborative team environment. The role includes engagement with clients, Indigenous partners, regulators, and other stakeholders as part of responsible project delivery. This position will typically include a combination of field and office-based work.
Our ideal candidate is a permit holder with ten or more years of experience in archaeology consulting with demonstrated leadership and team management skills. Ability to hold a permit in NWT, Alberta, Nunavut and Coastal BC is considered an asset. You are a highly organized and motivated self-starter with strong communication, problem-solving, and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively. Experience in developing study designs, preparing reports, and mentoring junior staff will be valuable in this role. You will also demonstrate Indigenous cultural awareness and the ability to build respectful partnerships with First Nations communities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with GIS or digital data platforms is an asset. This role requires a degree in Archaeology or Anthropology, with a Master’s preferred, and eligibility to work in jurisdictions where Ecofor operates.

We have offices in several locations in western Canada, however, successful candidates who reside outside those areas can be based out of their existing home, if preferred.
