Job summary

City of Dawson Creek invites applications for a full-time Lifeguard/Instructor III. Under the guidance of the Aquatics Manager, you will support operations at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre, supervise lifeguards and staff, and help deliver safe and high-quality aquatic programs to the community.

The ideal candidate will hold current National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option), Swim for Life Instructor Certification, Lifesaving Instructor Certification, and have leadership experience at an aquatic

Qualifications

• Current National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option).
• Current Swim for Life Instructor Certification.
• Current Standard First Aid.
• Current Lifesaving Instructor Certification.
• One year of leadership experience at an aquatic facility.
• Three years of lifeguard/instructor experience.
• Knowledge of Provincial Swimming Pool Regulation, Provincial Health, WCB OH&S programs.
• Strong computer skills to access municipal system and office apps.

Responsibilities

• Assists Aquatics Manager in the operation of the Aquatic Centre.
• Provides lifeguarding and instruction.
• Supervises swimming pool staff including shift scheduling, training development and evaluations within fiscal parameters.
• Assists in new program ideas and ensures programs function efficiently.
• Ensures staff are familiar with guidelines and emergency procedures.
• Maintains records and provides facility reports as required.
