Job summary

Image Engine is seeking a Senior Animator to deliver high‑quality animation quickly, handling difficult shots with minimal direction from Leads or Supervisors. You will quality check your work and mentor junior artists, assisting when necessary and supporting the Leads as needed.

The role is based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, on a project contract from mid-October to December 18, 2026. Requires 7+ years in VFX/feature films and strong storytelling in animation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience animating character and non-character assets for VFX/feature films.
• Demonstrated expert knowledge of traditional animation principles, acting, film production and compositional design.
• Ability to animate multiple types of character/non-character assets from simple to complex with a minimum of supervision.
• Strong visual storyteller and well-versed in cinematography: camera angles, composition and continuity.

Responsibilities

• Create convincing performances and motion of character/non-character assets with supervision.
• Animate complex shots with minimal direction and adhere to production deadlines.
• Coordinate with production to understand schedules and shot deadlines.
• Mentor junior animators and contribute to team discussions and reviews.
