Job summary

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is seeking a Senior Analyst, Policy and Operations in the Portfolio Insurance team. This temporary 12-month hybrid role is based in Ottawa with some in-office presence across CMHC locations.

You will assess portfolio insurance applications from lenders by providing business recommendations and market insights. You will develop risk criteria, support ad hoc projects, and produce written materials for internal and external stakeholders while

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Economics or Statistics.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in mortgage financing and/or real estate and housing/mortgage markets with knowledge of financial and risk assessment processes.
• Strong strategic and analytical thinking, research and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize and conceptualize.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Advanced knowledge of analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel, SAS, R and/or Python.

Responsibilities

• Conduct underwriting activities for loans lenders submit for Portfolio Insurance, recommend pools to be insured, and prepare the formal letter of offer to the lender.
• Confirm that loans submitted for securitization have valid insurance.
• Manage Purpose Test reporting activities.
• Initiate IT incidents when system issues arise that affect activities.
• Provide quantitative and qualitative analyses on specific issues and lead ad hoc projects.
• Develop a variety of written documentation, presentations, and briefing materials in support of project work for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain quality relationships with clients to understand their needs and objectives and explore opportunities.
