Job summary

RBC is seeking a Senior Analyst in Model Risk Governance to drive day‑to‑day governance of model validation processes and regulatory projects. The role coordinates review activities to ensure objectives are met within timeframes and in line with policy standards.

The successful candidate will manage the model inventory, liaise with multiple business units, and improve policy adherence while developing relationships across risk stakeholders. This is a full‑time Toronto position.

Qualifications

  • Must have a university degree (preferably in a financial and/or related discipline).
  • 3+ years’ professional experience.
  • Ability to execute with urgency while maintaining quality and efficiency; flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and urgent deadlines.
  • Outstanding analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail; able to work autonomously while seeking guidance when needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and proven interpersonal skills; expert MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint user.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the group’s model validation pipeline and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage RBC Enterprise-wide model inventory across business segments.
  • Review model information and remap characteristics as business needs change.
  • Articulate Model Risk Policy and operating standards to business units and identify gaps.
  • Learn how models support RBC banking and trading needs.
  • Build relationships across model risk stakeholders.

The Senior Analyst, Model Risk Governance (MRG) is responsible for managing day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple projects in support of the Enterprise Model Risk Management group, including model validation governance and regulatory project support. The Senior Analyst Coordinates Model Risk Management review activities to ensure project and risk objectives are accomplished within approved timeframes and to model risk policy and standards.

The Senior Analyst, Model Risk Governance (MRG) is responsible for managing day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple projects in support of the Enterprise Model Risk Management group, including model validation governance and regulatory project support. The Senior Analyst Coordinates Model Risk Management review activities to ensure project and risk objectives are accomplished within approved timeframes and to model risk policy and standards.

What will you do?
  • Assist the team in managing the group’s model validation pipeline, focusing on proactive management of business priorities, compliance dates, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the centralized model inventory for RBC Enterprise-wide models across business segments, ensuring it is up to date and model information is accurate and complete (Capital Markets, Personal & Consumer Banking, Insurance, Treasury & Investor Services, Corporate Support, and Anti-Money Laundering).
  • Review model information, remap the model characteristics and relationships as directed by changing business needs.
  • Articulate RBC Model Risk Policy and Model Operating Standards to business units, and identify areas where the practice is not meeting the policy.
  • Learn how models are used to support RBC Enterprise-wide banking and trading business needs.
  • Build inter-personal relationships across model risk management related stakeholders
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
  • Hold a university degree (preferably in a financial and/or related discipline)
  • 3+ years’ professional experience
  • Ability to execute with urgency while maintaining quality and efficiency; flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and urgent deadlines
  • Outstanding analytical and organizational skills with an attention to detail; tenacity to identify the root cause of problems is essential and capability to function with a high degree of autonomy, but effectively seek guidance when issues are of relative criticality, strategic importance or have an enterprise impact
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and proven interpersonal skills and Expert MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint user
Nice-to-have:
  • Strong knowledge of Model risk guidelines; the Federal Reserve 26-2 and OSFI’s E-23
  • FRM or PRM certification
