Job summary

Brookfield Wealth Solutions, based in downtown Toronto, is seeking a Senior Analyst, Finance (SFA) to join the Finance team. The role provides exposure to financial reporting, compliance and forecasting with opportunities to mentor analysts and co-ops.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or an industry role.
• Experience with IFRS financial statements; US GAAP exposure is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of OneStream and Workiva is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare consolidated financial statements and public documents on a quarterly and annual basis (MD&A and other materials).
• Prepare financial and management reporting for securitized investment vehicles quarterly and annually.
• Act as financial business partner to operating subsidiaries ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
• Participate in resolution of complex technical accounting issues.
• Coordinate with external auditors.
• Analyze and report on corporate and key business platforms and operating metrics.
• Prepare analyses for senior management and board of directors.
• Support internal and external audit teams for quarterly reviews, annual audit and SOX compliance.
• Conduct ad-hoc analyses and presentations on platform financial and operational results.

Job Description

Position Summary: The Senior Analyst, Finance (SFA) will join the Finance team within the Brookfield Wealth Solutions group, located in our head office in Downtown Toronto. The SFA role is a highly visible position that provides the foundation, guidance and exposure towards a challenging and dynamic career. The SFA will be involved at various depths with financial reporting, compliance, and forecasting. There is also opportunity to provide leadership and mentorship to analysts, co-op students and new hires. The role will be based in Brookfield’s Toronto office at Brookfield Place.

Responsibilities

• Prepare consolidated financial statements and public documents on a quarterly and annual basis, including the MD&A and other public materials
• Prepare the financial and management reporting of the company’s securitized investment vehicles on a quarterly and annual basis, which involves coordination with investment accounting, research and operations teams
• Act as the financial business partner to the company’s operating subsidiaries ensuring quarterly submissions are provided on a timely basis and are complete and accurate
• Participate in the resolution of complex technical accounting issues
• Assist in the coordination with the company’s external auditors
• Compile, analyze and report on corporate and key business platforms including operating metrics
• Assist in preparation of various analyses and reports for senior management to support their business decision making, and for the board of directors
• Support internal and external audit teams in relation to quarterly reviews, the annual audit and SOX compliance
• Ad-hoc analyses and presentations on platform financial and operational results, as well as supporting any special projects

Qualifications & Requirements

• Three to five (3–5) years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or an industry role; experience in the insurance industry, including public accounting experience on insurance engagements, is considered an asset.
• Experience preparing or auditing financial statements for a publicly listed entity in accordance with IFRS; working exposure to US GAAP is considered an asset.
• Advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills (knowledge of OneStream and Workiva is an asset).
• CPA or CA designation preferred; candidates actively pursuing certification considered.
• Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced environment, as well as adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and proactive, with respect to both managing workload and professional development.

Compensation

90,000 - 110,000

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
