eCampusOntario is a provincially-funded non-profit organization that leads a consortium of the province’s 58 publicly-funded colleges, universities and indigenous institutes to develop and test online learning tools to advance the use of education technology and digital learning environments. Senior Analyst, Finance
Position Summary

Reporting to the Head of Finance and Administration, the Senior Analyst, Finance is responsible for supporting financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance requirements, with a strong focus on eCampusOntario’s cost recovery business activities and selected transfer payment agreements (TPAs). The role provides financial and technical support to ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly reporting, effective project expense monitoring, and informed decision-making across business units.

Accountabilities, Duties and Responsibilities
Finance
  • Analyze cost recovery and business unit budgets, projections, allocations, variances, and pricing assumptions to provide timely financial support to management and business units.
  • Develop and maintain financial and pricing models to support cost recovery planning, project budgeting, forecasting, and pricing decisions.
  • Contribute to proposal writing by preparing financial narratives, budget assumptions, costing details, and supporting analysis for cost recovery opportunities and funding proposals.
  • Monitor funding availability and confirm that payment requests, project charges, and planned expenditures are aligned with approved cost recovery budgets and TPA requirements.
  • Prepare and consolidate monthly, quarterly, mid-year, and year-end financial reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely distribution to senior management and business unit leaders.
  • Process and monitor accounts receivable billing and cash application for cost recovery activities, aligned with project agreements and internal procedures.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare schedules, working papers, and supporting documentation for audits, funder reporting, and compliance reviews related to cost recovery activities and TPAs.
  • Ensure finance policies, accounting guidelines, internal controls, and funding requirements are consistently followed, and recommend process improvements where appropriate.
  • Monitor sales taxes related to cost recovery activities and prepare or review monthly or quarterly HST return and rebate working papers.
  • Act as backup for Accounts Payable, Procurement, and the Senior Analyst, Finance.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as required.
Payroll
  • Support semi-monthly payroll inputs, coordinate with the payroll vendor as needed, and ensure payroll funds are released on time.
  • Collaborate with People and Culture to ensure employee payroll information is accurately reflected in the payroll system.
  • Support annual payroll reporting activities, including the T4 and T4A process and the establishment of the new calendar year payroll schedule.
  • Perform other ad hoc payroll-related duties as required.
Administration
  • Support the Finance and Administration team with in-person office operations and other administrative activities at eCampusOntario, as required. This position requires in-person attendance at the eCampusOntario office a minimum of one (1) day per week.
Education, Professional Designations and Development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation required, or active progress toward completion of the CPA program.
Experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, or financial analysis experience.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as NetSuite or other ERP systems.
  • Experience with financial modelling, including VBA macros, Power Query, advanced Excel tools and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing business proposals, financial analyses, and supporting documentation.
  • Ability to prepare clear financial presentations and supporting materials for management review.

This position is based out of the eCampusOntario office in downtown Toronto, where our hybrid work model includes both in-person and remote work opportunities.
