The Role

Supports the Client Data Operations team in GBM Onboarding with counterparty data reconciliation, analysis, reporting and control. This involves developing an understanding of the data and the functionalities of systems used by the Onboarding and Static Data teams and performing data analysis and reconciliation across various systems. The Senior Analyst will primarily lead the maintenance of and changes to the Regulatory Onboarding Portals, support regulatory data extracts, counterparty population scoping, control reporting and audit/regulatory requests, and contribute to GBMO’s fulfilment of regulatory obligations through participation in business transformation, data governance and process improvement initiatives.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Establishes, maintains and governs client and counterparty data management requirements, reference data standards and related governance artifacts across Global Banking and Markets systems, including mandatory attributes, permitted values, source-of-truth rules, validation logic, field-level specifications, data dictionaries, source-to-target mappings, lineage references and systems-of-record documentation. Engages stakeholders across front office, KYC, compliance, onboarding, static data, trade source, credit, GBMO Metrics and business teams to understand data needs, document requirements, confirm data availability and suitability, and align data capture and structuring approaches.
  • Performs complex client data analysis, reconciliation and data quality management by extracting, querying and analyzing large datasets; preparing and validating regulatory onboarding data extracts, counterparty population files and control reports; reconciling records across systems; identifying discrepancies, downstream impacts and error patterns; cleansing data; investigating regulatory data exceptions; completing root cause analysis; documenting assumptions and evidence; and implementing corrective actions to restore data integrity.
  • Designs, enhances and supports client data models, structures, queries, reporting solutions and Regulatory Onboarding / Good-to-Trade portal functionality, including specifying new or amended fields, permitted values, record relationships, validation rules and portal change requirements; liaising with technology partners through implementation; performing user acceptance testing, regression testing and pre-release validation; reviewing and validating portal updates, field changes and control report items; confirming implemented changes are complete, accurate and appropriately evidenced; and monitoring data quality, operational performance and regulatory onboarding outcomes.
  • Drives process improvement across recurring and ad hoc reporting, operational reconciliation, regulatory onboarding and COBRA data workflows by identifying manual, repetitive or control-sensitive processes; improving accuracy, timeliness, control, consistency and efficiency; supporting automation and optimization using approved tools such as SQL, Python, VBA, Power Query, Power Platform and business intelligence tools; and creating, maintaining and updating documentation, audit trails and job aids for portal processes, queries, scripts and reporting workflows.
  • Supports cross-functional data, COBRA and project initiatives across Global Banking and Markets Operations by advising business units on data sourcing, data quality, KYC, AML and OTC onboarding lifecycle matters; assessing downstream impacts of onboarding, regulatory and static/reference data changes across source systems, reporting outputs and operational handoffs; supporting clarification of BAU ownership, controls and escalation paths; and assisting the Associate Director with complex analysis, problem solving, portal change execution and regulatory onboarding support as required.
  • Champions a high-performance, inclusive and well-controlled environment by applying the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day decisions; supporting effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct and Global Sales Principles; supporting audit, regulatory, compliance and control-related requests through evidence preparation, source-data reconciliation, SQL/database extracts and clear audit trails; and helping ensure business controls meet operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk obligations.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Requires strong knowledge of Excel, SQL, VBA and business intelligence/reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI or similar visualization tools. Experience with Python, Power Query and Power Platform is considered an asset for automation, reconciliation and reporting process improvement.
  • Requires knowledge of financial markets, financial instruments and end-to-end front, middle and back-office workflows, including the operational impact of current and anticipated regulatory changes.
  • Requires strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to independently resolve complex, multi-dimensional and often unstructured business problems, and propose practical solutions.
  • Requires strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, time management and organizational skills to build consensus and obtain cooperation from business, technology, operations, compliance and management stakeholders.
  • A recognized undergraduate degree is required, preferably in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Business.
  • Requires strong technical writing skills to document requirements, procedures, data definitions, testing outcomes, audit evidence and reporting processes.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment or BCP location as required; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
  • May require limited travel globally.
