Job summary

RBC in Toronto is seeking a US Regulatory Services analyst to execute day-to-day regulatory reporting to exchanges, regulators and the SEC, with focus on reports such as EBS, CAT, CAIS, SEC 13DG and H. The role involves coordinating with Compliance, Legal, Finance and Technology to ensure timely, accurate submissions and respond to regulatory inquiries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Required, preferably in Engineering or Business or a related subject.
  • Understanding of financial products (Equities, Listed Derivatives, Fixed Income, and/or OTC Derivatives)
  • Understanding of the trade life cycle (Orders, Executions, Allocations) is required
  • Some understanding of Middle Office Trade Processing is required
  • Management experience is a plus
  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs), PowerPoint, and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable on the day to day reporting activities and ensures all procedures are followed for assigned reports (EBS, CAT, CAIS, SEC 13DG and H, LOPR, etc.)
  • May serve as a final reviewer for assigned regulatory reporting submissions
  • Acts as escalation for junior staff on complex issues
  • Support the development and implementation of controls to ensure timeliness, accuracy and completeness of reporting
  • May be responsible for prioritization of reporting anomalies
  • May produce presentations for stakeholders highlighting metrics
  • May assist in impact assessment of system / business changes
  • Develops ideas for continuous process improvement

  • May supervise day-to-day work of junior staff

The individual in this role is primarily responsible for day-to-day operational execution to broader planning within the area of expertise. What will you do?
  • Knowledgeable on the day to day reporting activities and ensures all procedures are followed for assigned reports (May include such as Electronic Blue Sheets (EBS), CAT (Consolidated Audit Trail), CAIS (Customer and Account Reporting), SEC 13DG and H, LOPR, Short Interest, TRACE, MSRB, and any other reports as assigned by manager).
  • As required, may serve as a final reviewer for assigned regulatory reporting submissions
  • As required, acts as an effective layer of escalation for junior or less experienced staff on complex issues
  • Support the development and implementation of controls to ensure the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of reporting, and resolve any exceptions identified.
  • May be responsible for the prioritization of reporting anomalies, may include requirement development
  • May be responsible for the production of presentations for a range of stakeholders highlighting achievements, reporting metrics, and other relevant material
  • May be responsible for assisting in the completion of impact assessment of system / business changes
  • Develops and harnesses ideas for continuous process improvement
  • Document, revise and maintain procedures as required
  • May supervise day-to-day work of junior level employees while providing cover for Team Manager during absence
What do you need to succeed?
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Required, preferably in Engineering or Business or a related subject
