Job summary

Unity Montreal is seeking a senior AI engineer to design, implement, and scale AI agent systems within Unity environments. You will develop reusable planning and memory frameworks, build AI models for agentic capabilities, and optimize ML models for real‑time gameplay.

You will lead initiatives in hierarchical RL and world modeling while collaborating across teams to broaden Unity’s AI offerings. The role emphasizes cross‑functional collaboration, safety practices, and a roadmap‑driven approach

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, ML, Robotics, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years hands‑on experience developing ML systems in production or real‑time environments.
• Strong background in reinforcement learning, AI planning, or multi‑agent systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and scale AI agent systems in Unity environments for goal‑directed behavior and environment‑aware decisions.
• Develop reusable agentic frameworks (planning modules, memory systems, policy adapters) for extensibility.
• Develop AI models for Unity's agentic system to support building Unity games.
• Integrate ML models within real‑time constraints, optimizing latency, compute, and determinism.
• Lead high‑impact initiatives including hierarchical RL and goal inference for NPCs and simulations.
• Collaborate across teams to unlock innovative use cases in gaming, simulation, and storytelling.
• Contribute to Unity’s long‑term vision for agentic AI, ensuring modularity, usability, and cross‑platform performance.
• Establish best practices for model quality, evaluation, and ML/AI safety in real‑time systems.
