Qualifications

Senior Actuarial Associate - Corporate Actuarial

Position Overview

Join Munich Re’s Corporate Actuarial team to advance your actuarial career through expertise in reinsurance valuation and reporting. You will develop and utilize advanced models for analysis and reporting in the Life & Health Reinsurance sector in Canada and the US. Collaboration with teams such as Pricing, Accounting, Biometric Research, and ERM will deepen your knowledge of concepts like LICAT and IFRS17 through various projects.

We seek a candidate with a strong drive for achievement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a high-performance, client-focused environment. Quick learners who can synthesize and implement solutions and explain complex concepts to senior management are ideal.

Your Role:

The successful candidate will support the preparation of financial data related to valuation, solvency, and planning, including but not limited to:

  • Preparing IFRS reserves, OSFI exhibits, and LIMAT returns
  • Verifying accuracy through tests and analysis, including reserve movements and earnings sources
  • Communicating quarterly results via summaries and Q&A sessions, and preparing reports for management, regulators, and headquarters
  • Updating systems/processes for new products, regulations, or efficiency improvements
  • Consolidating cash flows for FCT, projections, IFRS 17, ALM, Solvency II, and NBU
  • Monitoring capital needs, interpreting OSFI guidelines, and completing regulatory capital returns
  • Maintaining and documenting financial models and systems
  • Supporting collaboration with other departments such as Pricing, Accounting, Reinsurance Operations, and ERM

Your Profile:

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics
  • FSA designation or progress towards FSA
  • At least 3 years of actuarial experience in Canadian Life and Health insurance/reinsurance
  • Experience with AXIS, Datalink, and SQL
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments
