Job summary

Desjardins is seeking a Senior Actuarial Advisor for the Ontario Auto Personal Lines Ratemaking team. You will create segmentations, adjust models for strategies, and conduct rate analyses to improve profitability for a multi‑billion dollar book.

You will file and deploy rate changes and coach junior actuaries while collaborating with underwriting, IT and corporate actuarial partners. Candidates should have a bachelor's in a related field, at least six years of experience, and progress toward

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum six years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive prior experience in Auto Ratemaking.
  • Progress toward CAS/CIA exams.
  • Knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Create segmentations using various modelling software.
  • Adjust models for business strategies or market behaviours.
  • Conduct overall rate level analyses.
  • Identify areas of improvements and implement innovative solutions.
  • File and secure approval of rate and algorithm changes.
  • Deploy rate changes.
  • Support project planning, development, execution and coordination.
  • Coach less experienced actuarial professionals and review peers' work.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, corporate actuarial, IT and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor portfolio quality and compare rates/market share with competitors.

  • Salary range : $99 245 to $145 559 per year (Toronto suburbs) (may vary depending on the number of actuarial exams completed)
