Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Canada seeks a talented professional to plan, develop, and deliver therapeutic, recreational and social programs for residents of the LTC Home. You will support staff, evaluate programs, and promote an engaged interdisciplinary team to improve quality of life for residents.

The role requires strong leadership, creativity, and experience in healthcare program delivery, with emphasis on activation, collaboration, and resource stewardship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years post qualification experience in program planning and delivery in health care setting.
• Knowledge of long-term care is an asset.
• Knowledge and experience in counseling with seniors and their caregivers.
• Ability to supervise, coach and mentor a team.
• Excellent leadership qualities.
• Creativity and innovation in developing programs to maximize independence.
• Superb customer service skills.
• Ability to work with interdisciplinary team.
• Must be agile and comfortable with change.
• Computer literacy.
• Knowledge of Chinese word processing an asset.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen result.
• Fluency in English and Chinese.
• Knowledge of Japanese, Filipino or a South Asian dialect an asset.
• Occasional weekend or evening work.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops and ensures delivery of meaningful therapeutic, recreational and social programs for residents of the LTC Home.
• Supports staff in implementing innovative programs, including therapeutics.
• Evaluates effectiveness of programs implemented.
• Coaches, develops, monitors and evaluates staff; promotes a strong, engaged team.
• Coordinates with interdisciplinary team to carry out and monitor activation and care plans.
