Make an impact as a Senior Accountant with our Indigenous External Financial Advisory Services team. As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide expertise to empower Indigenous communities, organizations, businesses and individuals in navigating a dynamic social, political and economic environment.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Indigenous community and enterprise clients to assess their accounting systems and assist in delivering tailored capacity-building initiatives
• Assist with reviewing client accounting practices to create a strategic plan for growth, capacity development, and financial literacy
• Support activities related to external financing, system implementations, and chart of accounts setup
• Deliver hands-on training in accounting functions including assisting the client with audit preparation
• Prepare finance policies and process maps, prepare recommended amendments as required
• Provide training on general matters such as payroll, GST/PST, and T4 filing
• Facilitate project updates to Management and Leadership
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills and Experience

• A degree or diploma in Business Administration or Accounting
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
• Experience working with Indigenous communities is a strong asset
