Job summary

MNP is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Indigenous Ease Services team in Metro Vancouver. This position requires a CPA designation and experience in full-cycle accounting processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with Indigenous clients and ensure compliance with financial standards while overseeing accounting operations.

Compensation for this role ranges from $75,000 to $86,000 annually, along with generous benefits such as vacation time, paid personal days, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required; CAFM designation is an asset.
• Experience in full-cycle accounting processes is essential.
• Knowledge of accounting software is preferred.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities is preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP, PSAS, and IFRS is essential.
• Understanding of business and management principles is important.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full cycle accounting operations including financial transactions.
• Collaborate with clients and team members for quality engagements.
• Monitor accuracy of financial transactions and compliance.
• Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Create accurate and compliant financial statements.

Description

Make an impact within our Indigenous Ease Services team as a Senior Accountant. This diverse team of professionals are dedicated to exceeding clients’ unique needs within a rapidly evolving business and financial reporting landscape. MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm for Indigenous Nations, businesses, and entrepreneurs in Canada. With more than 250 Indigenous clients and 500 team members dedicated to this sector, no other firm has invested as much time and resources into serving the unique needs of Indigenous communities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of full cycle accounting operations, including financial transactions and reporting
• Collaborate with clients, internal team members and relationship managers to ensure high-quality Indigenous EASE client engagements
• Monitor and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions and reporting, including compliance with regulatory standards
• Coordinate the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, including variance reports
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes
• Prepare and publish timely, accurate and compliant financial statements and related reports
• Assist with new engagements by providing the required information for client setup and deliverable creation
• Maintain and update charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members
• Maintain flexibility to travel to client sites

Skills and Experience

• CPA designation (CAFM designation considered an asset)
• Experience working with full-cycle accounting processes
• Knowledge of Sage 300, Sage Intacct, Adagio, Xyntax, QBO or Xero considered an asset
• Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations preferred
• Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
