We are currently looking for an Accountant for our North Americas Finance team. This position is responsible for the month/quarter end closing, analysis of financial statements & reporting of actual to budget variances, account reconciliations/full cycle accounting and management reporting in support of several operations within the Americas divisions. This is a Hybrid role with only 1-2 days in our office at Markham, ON. This is a full-time temporary position with a 1-year contract, reporting directly to Account Manager.


Responsibilities
  • Review, adjust & analyse a full set of monthly/quarterly financial statements for designated legal companies
  • Analyse and interpret reports for finance and operational managers including solutions to proactively address any potential financial impact to the businesses
  • Prepare monthly journal entries & ensure Balance Sheet accounts for multiple entities are reconciled and are independently supported
  • Assist with annual budgets and variance analysis (cost trending and comparatives)
  • Prepare a wide variety of ad-hoc financial reports, commission calculations, labour utilization and expenditure analysis
  • Maintain a close working relationship with sales and operations personnel to ensure all transactions are correctly recorded in accordance with Company policies
  • Implement and monitor financial controls to ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and practices
  • Assist with local entity statutory financial statement preparation and external audit reviews
  • Prepare financial reports with reliable conclusions that management can use to implement more effective operational strategies
  • Ensure VAT / Sales Tax / Withholding returns are filed on a timely basis for multiple jurisdictions
  • Ensure three-way matching principle for inventory control is followed and identify any weaknesses in current processes
  • Preparation of quarter end deliverables due to corporate
  • Review and provide expense coding to accounts payable team
  • Operational point of contact for all Cost of Revenue and Operating Expense enquiries
  • Schedule and present the monthly financial results to operational and sales leaders
  • Resolve intercompany and multi-currency / FX discrepancies identified by corporate
  • Monthly calculation of Enghouse Commission plan for sales representatives
  • Vendor Royalty Calculations and payment

Qualifications & Experience
  • Business degree or diploma & Accounting designation will be an asset
  • 3 - 5 years of accounting experience in multi-currency, multi-entity consolidated environment, preferably in the software industry
  • Experience with Great Plains an asset
  • Experience with inventory management would be an asset
  • Experience in SaaS or Software industry is a plus
  • Skill in mathematical calculations and applications, analysis, judgment, interpersonal relations and communications
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong knowledge of general financial and management accounting principles and practices, automated accounting systems, reconciliations, budgets and financial analysis is required
  • Strong command of the English language a must
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple responsibilities
  • Legally eligible to work in the country without sponsorship
