Job summary

Baker Tilly in Winnipeg, MB seeks a Senior Accountant to drive assurance and tax work, mentor staff, and build client relationships. You’ll lead engagements, supervise teams, prepare financial statements, and contribute to business development in a dynamic Canadian firm with local roots and global reach.

The successful candidate has CPA progression, 5+ years of public accounting experience, strong communication, and proficiency with Caseware, Profile, Sage, and Excel.

Qualifications

  • College or university education in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Successful completion of the CFE or working towards a CPA designation.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in accounting; public practice preferred.
  • Interest in managing and developing others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting.
  • Experience with Caseware, Profile, Sage 300 (ACCPAC), Sage 50 (Simply Accounting) and QuickBooks is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Complete, support and guide the completion of assurance and non-assurance engagements for a variety of clients
  • Lead consulting engagements or special assignments and identify client service opportunities
  • Supervise, develop, mentor and lead junior staff
  • Complete corporate and personal income tax returns
  • Preparation and review of financial statements
  • Identifying and resolving engagement issues
  • Developing and maintaining positive and productive working relationships
  • Participating in business development initiatives
  • Proactively follow up with clients and build positive working relationships
  • Effectively respond to requests or queries, and keep the team apprised of any potential issues

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Your schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
