Job summary

Baker Tilly Canada in Winnipeg, Manitoba is seeking an Accounting Technician to join our team. This role will support assurance, advisory and bookkeeping tasks across diverse clients, contributing to accurate financial records and efficient project delivery.

The successful candidate will have a post-secondary credential in accounting or finance, 1–2 years of related experience, and a drive to pursue CPA designation.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/certificate/degree in business administration, accounting or finance.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in public practice or professional services.
  • Knowledge of Canadian accounting frameworks (PSAB, ASPE; IFRS exposure is a plus).
  • Eligible or planning to pursue CPA designation (PEP or PREP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with Caseware, TaxPrep, Sage 300 (ACCPAC), Sage 50 (Simply Accounting), QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online is an asset.
  • Comfortable with new technologies and digital tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and completion of assurance and advisory engagements for a variety of clients.
  • Participate in a supporting role on consulting engagements.
  • Respond to client and internal inquiries in a timely and professional manner; escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with team members regarding job status and potential issues.
  • Provide bookkeeping support for both clients and internal teams.
  • Review client information and prepare query lists for managers.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate client files in a paperless environment.
  • Perform basic analysis on client files as directed by management.
  • Actively build technical knowledge and progress toward professional development goals.

Job type: Permanent, Full-time

Your schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Where you’ll work: Winnipeg, Manitoba
