Job summary

Baker Tilly Canada in Lindsay, Ontario, is hiring a Senior Accountant to drive client engagements and develop robust audit, accounting and tax skills. You will work on compilations, reviews and audits, prepare tax returns, and collaborate across teams to deliver integrated financial solutions.

Qualifications

  • University degree in commerce or accounting required.
  • Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) or CPA in waiting.
  • 3+ years in a public accounting firm with at least two years of audit/assurance.
  • Working knowledge of Caseware, Taxprep/iFirm, Keystone and QuickBooks preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Interest in managing and developing others.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage multiple deliverables.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare compilation, review and audit engagements.
  • Prepare corporate, personal and trust income tax returns.
  • Prepare tax slips (T3, T4, T5, etc.).
  • Conduct and lead audits.
  • Identify and resolve engagement issues.
  • Support year-end planning.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Direct field work and inform managers of engagement status.
  • Develop strong technical audit, accounting and tax skills.
  • Collaborate to deliver integrated financial and business solutions.

Your role:
  • Preparation of compilation, review and audit engagements
  • Preparation of corporate, personal and trust income tax returns
  • Preparation of tax slips (T3, T4, T5, etc.)
  • Performing and leading audits
  • Identifying and resolving engagement issues
  • Supporting year-end planning
  • Developing and maintaining positive and productive working relationships
  • Direct field work and informing manager(s) of the engagement status
  • Developing strong technical audit, accounting and tax skills
  • Collaborating to ensure we provide an integrated financial and business solution that meets our clients' need
What you bring to the table:
  • University degree in commerce or accounting
  • Attained a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) or CPA in waiting
  • 3+ years experience at public accounting firm with a minimum of two years of audit and assurance experience
  • Working knowledge of Caseware, Taxprep/iFirm, Keystone, and Quickbooks preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in managing and developing others
  • Ability to prioritize and manage deliverables, adhering to time and budget constraints
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines, which can be conflicting with one another
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work and learn
  • An inclination for attention to detail and accuracy
  • A desire to be an integral part of a fun team environment
