THE ROLE

Our client is a leading Vancouver real estate developer with a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential properties. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a CPA-designated Senior Accountant looking to transition from public practice into industry.

Reporting to the Controller, you will be a key member of the corporate accounting team, managing full-cycle accounting for multiple entities, preparing consolidated financials, and supporting month-end and year-end processes. You will collaborate cross-functionally with operations and the tax group, gaining exposure to both strategic and operational financial aspects of a growth-oriented organization.

This position provides a balance of autonomy and teamwork, with opportunities to improve processes, contribute to internal reporting, and participate in special projects. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform full-cycle accounting and reporting for various entities
  • Collaborate with operations, business partners, and the tax group to deliver accurate financial results and analysis
  • Maintain, update, and reconcile key balance sheet account schedules monthly
  • Respond to inquiries from the Controller and management regarding financial results and reports
  • Assist in preparing financial summaries, forecasts, and analyzing financial results and KPIs for internal stakeholders
  • Support the preparation of year-end financial statements and working papers for external auditors
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
  • Contribute to business process improvements
  • Prepare monthly standalone and consolidated financial statements and schedules
  • Participate in finance and accounting initiatives and projects

REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPA designation with experience in construction or real estate development sectors preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible accounting experience
  • Proficient in ASPE accounting standards
  • Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Sage is an asset
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting deadlines
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, team-oriented
